I give up....Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is located on a 2008 CTS 3.6 DI?
Step 1
Locate the Cadillac CTS fuel filter underneath the passenger side of the vehicle, just in front of the rear tire.
Step 2
Open the vehicles gas cap to relieve the pressure in the fuel line and then reattach the cap.

Step 3
Lift the car up with a floor jack near the right rear tire and slide a jack stand under the axle near the tire.
Step 4
Lower the vehicle down so that it is resting on the jack stand and place a gas can underneath the fuel filter to catch any gas leaking from the lines.
Step 5
Slide the quick-connect fitting on the gas tank side of the fuel filter back and pull the fuel line away from the filter by hand, placing the end of the fuel line in the gas can to catch any leaking fuel.
Step 6
Detach the threaded fittings on the engine side of the fuel line from the fuel filter with an open-end wrench.
Step 7
Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line and place the end of the fuel line into the gas can to catch any excess fuel.
Take the gas can out from under the CTS and remove the old fuel filter.
Items you will need
  • Jack stand
  • Gas can
  • Open end wrench

You are confused. Our fuel filters are integral with the pump and located in the tank.

Curious - RockAuto shows an external fuel filter for a 2005 and 2008 CTS 3.6.

Probably best to consult parts sites or the service manuals when making blanket parts use statements.

. . . . same for the 2005 Devilles -

So the filter is part of the fuel pump or down in the tank somewhere??
Do gas stations have fuel filters?

All gas pumps at US gas stations have filters somewhere in the line. You don't have to worry about it. The filters on the pumps will catch any sediment.

If there is a filter in the tank I can't find it.
I have not found and fuel filter listed on a Cadillac CTS 2011.
the pictures of the electric fuel pump in the tank do not show a filter screen.
