coast to coast and would like a bit softer ride and softer seats. Any comments? Thanks Gene

seats are definitely better ride will be about the same unless you get a car with magnetic ride then you will have a nicer ride in tour mode magnetic ride is only on the premium RWD

your car neew was $46,745 a premium ATS rwd is $48,050

As much as I like the ATS, I'm not sure it's right car for an 'olphart' who wants a soft ride and soft seats. Maybe an XTS? It does't come in a coupe, however.

I really like my ATS Coupe Premium, it has a softer ride than old BMW but I think a Buick has a very soft ride. My wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee has a softer ride than my ATS.

Good luck.

I have two corv converts (66 & 01) and drove Buick coupes for 30 years (T-types and Rivieras). Have never owned a 4 door car or any truck... seems like
I am too old to start now. I have put 12,700 road miles on my coupe since I bought it Sept 2014 and have loved every mile. There are not many (American) coupes
and I am exploring my options. Thanks for any comments. Gene

Do all the premium cars have wood trimmed interiors? That is why I preferred the CTS Perf. I own a sign shop so I could wrap the wood easily enough I guess.

I believe that the black leather interior with jet black accents has brushed aluminum trim and the red leather interior has carbon fiber trim. The brown leather interior and the
light platinum interior have wood trim.

And FWIW if shopping new, I had several dealers offer to swap trim with any other car in stock. I'm sure just about any would to make a sale.

I believe so too. I dont like the black interior but since its the only one that comes with non-wood trim, I could suffice. Interesting, I thought Caddy tried to target the younger drivers, wouldnt it be logical to offer more non-wood trim?

I just purchased a 2015 ATS Premium Coupe AWD w/3.6. So far I'm in love with this car. Traded an 09 CTS Premium which I also liked but as most of the rest in this blog I'm a coupe guy and love what they've done with this ATS coupe. I've only driven it in sport mode and must admit with the rough, late winter road conditions it can rattle you a little, however the overall handling of the car with magnetic ride is excellent. I have a Phantom Gray w/Morello Red interior and it has carbon fiber trim and suede accents with red stitching. I wanted a CTS coupe back in 09 but when they postponed it for 18 months I went with the sedan, it was a great car but there is nothing like the looks and feel of a sport coupe. By the way I'm 70 and plan to keep driving my ATS coupe, 69 Vette and 57 Chev Belair Pro Street for many more years.

Congratulations, JPenn! Your ATS Coupe sounds like a beauty in Phantom Gray and Morello Red Leather! Please post a picture of it on the forum! And thanks for the comparison remarks. I did not know the AWD models had the Magnetic Ride suspension--is that only on the Premium series?

Thank you. I really like the color combination with the polished aluminum wheels. You know you learn all sorts of things reading this forum. I was under the impression that magnetic ride came on all Premiums and told my salesman that was one of the reasons I wanted the Premium, he never told me it wasn't available w/AWD of course he probably didn't know, a salesman is the last person you would expect to have all of the details regarding the car he's selling. He'll be getting a call from me in the morning. In any event the car still handles great and has a firm sporty ride.

Once a coupe....always a coupe. A car bought for just the diver should never be compromised for "more room". If you can't get your seat in the ATS to be perfect.....then it's not your car.

I just went from a 2012 CTS coupe to a 2015 ATS coupe. I find the seats are more comfortable and more adjustable than the CTS. The adjustable thigh support and the multi-directional adjustable headrests are great. The ride is stiffer but I attribute that to the run flats. It was the same with my vette until I switched to regular non-flats. The biggest drawback for me is that the ATS is considerably smaller inside and out. It didn't affect me until I had driven the car for awhile. I'm sure it's just a matter of time until I get used to it.

My brother owns a 2012 CTS Coupe and I let him drive my new 15 ATS the other day and he absolutely loved it. To some of the points made the ATS coop is by far a much more chiseled athlete and he felt that lightness and quickness immediately compared to the CTS Coupe. I disagree on the interior I think sitting shoulder to shoulder feels about the same in both cars . but the interior quality of ATS coupe is quite a big step over the CTS

Not sure about softer ride, but ATS is an step up from CTS coupe from any perspective you imagine. One of the main complains of CTS owners from ATS is the back seat size. But in your case, the back seat of the CTS coupe is already useless. Drive the ATS couple premium RWD. That car comes with magnetic ride. Put it in tour mode and see how the ride is.
