Hi there, I currently have a brand new 2006 nav system for the CTS for sale on Ebay. My question is, has anyone performed this mod and what was your experience? I've been getting a lot of questions about this nav unit. How long did it take you to install in your car?

Hey thanks for the quick reply, and about the trim exchange, sorry but I am already listing this unit and the reserve has been met, if I come across another nav system I will let you know. Is it hard to remove the wood trim and install the black one? Thanks

Nope. It's only held on by plastic tabs on the four sides. Then two electrical connectors for the buttons and knobs, on Flat-flex that plug into the nav. The whole face pops off as a unit, and the screen actually stays attached to the Nav.

I dont know what you do or where you get your nav's but if you have non-working junk ones, there are always people looking for faceplate from them. Right now I have an mint condition ebony face on mine but have a pewter dash, I would gladly pay, swap, or both for a pewter, or a woodgrain face.

By ebony faceplate, do you mean the traditional black plastic faceplate? or is it a darker woodgrain? This is the only nav unit I have but I guess if you guys want I can add to the items description that there are some referrals I can make if the buyer preferrs the black trim.

I am constantly asked if I have this with black trim. Please let me know if you want me to referr you to the buyer.

That black face will have been on 3 different Navs by the time this is done! When I upgraded my CD Nav to a DVD Nav last month, I swapped the black face for my old pewter face. Shaft got it from me (CD Nav, but with a black face) and now it's going to indu123. Gotta love this forum!

A deal is in the works between indu123 and me. I would certainly make the same offer to Thomas, should this exchange with indu123 not work out.
As far as I know jteolis and I were the only 2 forum members looking to exchange. jteolis has been busy lately, that’s why I am taking the first one. So no guarantees on when he will be ready. Welcome to the forum headly. Wanted to ask you something...where did you get the NAV unit from? Was it from ebay's pemex911? If yes, how did the whole thing go...I mean the paying, shipping and all?
