Hi Gents,

Has anyone found an intake system for the CT4-V Blacking or even a place that is willing to make one? Cadillac did a nice job improving the stock exhaust sound but the car has zero induction sound. I don't know about you all but I didn't buy a twin turbo vehicle to not hear the turbo. I am hoping someone out there has had some luck!

Take care!

Until tuning becomes readily available for these cars, I'd be careful about intake or even air filter changes. The majority of intakes for the ATS-V skewed the MAF sensor readings enough that a tune was required to maintain proper air fuel ratio.

Even some of the "drop in" air filters for the ATS-V stock intake could put the ECM into limp mode because the filters altered the airflow through the MAF sensors enough to make the engine run too lean and induce excessive knock retard under heavy use.

Not sure if the BW intake and MAF sensors are going to be as sensitive as the ATS-V is, but I would not do intake mods or even drop in filters on the BW without doing datalogs with a wideband to make sure the air fuel ratio has not been significantly skewed from the mods.

(snip)

I'm going to make a wild-assed bet that the calibration in the ECM of a CT4-V-BW is encrypted. If so, it will be a while before the aftermarket can "tune" one of those engines.

You’re right about the security of the new ECM, but we’ve gotten past that hurdle.

In the C7Z06 world there were 3 mods folks would try to get away with without a tune. Ported TB. Exhaust XPipe. Cold air intake. Most of us could do two of the three without throwing codes. Many that tried all three made it without a code problem. I don't know of anybody that reported throwing codes with only one of the three. The ATS/4BW may be more sensitive than that but my guess is you can do a new filter or a cold air intake without a problem without a tune. But it is specific to the vagaries of your specific car. Try it and let us know.

Tapout Tuning already has CT4-V Blackwing downpipes that let you hear sweet turbo sounds, in addition to improving the already excellent exhaust note. They are also working to develop a carbon fiber intake system too.
