What type of tool should I be using to pull the crank pulley off? I was thinking a 3-jaw puller.

Also after I rebuild what do I use to press the pulley back on. There must be a specialty tool out there somewhere that takes it off and presses it on. I hope :banghead:

Yes - correct and correct - look on e-bay for the latter - I used it, but I think a bolt and washers will also work - the tool is just easier.

You will need a good 3 jaw puller - I pretty much totaled my Harbor Freight model. Place the jaws on the 3 flanges - can't miss them.

For the bolt, use an impact wrench if you have it and/or a long breaker bar with a pipe for extra leverage.

The bolt and damper were very hard to remove - very easy to install - I used a little light oil and everything went together easily. The bolt you torque to a certain ft lbs, then 1/3 turn - 120 degrees.

Thanks, I went and rented a large 3 jaw puller. The first one I rented was too small but I got it off.

I was still unsure of the install process tho.

I used a bolt about an inch longer to start it, then switched to the correct bolt.

I think mine went on enough to use the original bolt, but I used the installer, since I had it and was a little more slick... there was bearing that turned with the installer, so there was no rotational friction...did I say that right?

Mine went on with the original bolt. Just put the balance on the crank and the bolt was long enough to get started and just screwed her in. Just make sure you get that damn thing bottomed out and torque the hell out it. The harmonic balancer runs the oil pump with friction - if it is not tight enough it wont turn the oil pump.

Another question is where can I get the specialty tools to press the front and rear seals in, and the front timing cover seal. Are there 2 or 3 seals for the crank?

Those tools are a must from what I read, especially for the rear main.
