Does anybody know where I can get a replacement Night Vision lens?
I got hit with a road pebble and it got a tiny hole in it. The camera
still works fine but Cadillac says it's $3,200 to replace the whole camera
because the company who manufactures the camera doesn't sell replacement parts, only whole new cameras.

I am screwed, because I'm not going to spend $3,200 for a $40 lens.
Any help would be appreciated. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I had the same problem.Your camera will work for a while but water and moisture is getting in it.It will quit due to corrosion. You cant find a camera anywhere.Pretty much S.O.L. unless you buy a new camera.I came to the conclusion after mine stopped workin that i wasnt going to have night vision. So If you want to replace the lens so your car doesnt look stupid driving around with a cracked lense.do what i did.Take out the camera and take it apart.Take the cracked lens out.Take the lens and have a peice of glass cut to the same specs only slightly thicker.SLightly.The lens glass is very thin and breaks easily.Alittle thicker glass will stand up to the rocks. Seal up the inside of the camera with waterproof silicone. paint the BACK of the glass with black spray paint. When it dries insert it in the lens opening with the painted side inside the camera so glass surface will be showing on the outside.and seal it up.Put the camera back together and you will have the factory fresh look.Yes you lose the camera but it looks like a new lens.Hope this will help.Noone will know the difference.:) :cool2:

Bernie,
I have the same problem on a 2001 Cad. Did you find a replacement lens?

I definitely read something wrong. I could swear I saw replacement camera somewhere for $26.

Am I on drugs?

I'll have to look for that.

My Y2K DHS has a cracked/chipped lens, good news - the camera still works... but fuzzy.

What are my fix options?

Is there is replacement lens for the 2000 model?

Has anyone found a cheaper replacement option than ~$2,000???

Thanks,

John

My DTS is getting a new camera this week under my certified warranty. It started to get white "hot" spots on the display. I wish they would let me keep my lens cover, I would give it to you but they won't let me have it even though i know them well. sorry.

The same thing must have happened to my car before I bought it. The car has the NightVision but no camera. Someone had but a non-NV grille on the car somewhere along the way to make it look right. If you decide not to fix it, that's another option for you. Just pull the camera and put a body-colored grill on it.

There were two different models of the camera. An early model and a late model. All I have been told was that there was change in the housing between the two models.

D&mn, I don't want to claim it on my insurance, but the front glass that was cracked, now has a hole in it...

Is there no fix / replacement for the front glass?

Can I swap the camera for another year (other that 2000?)?

Thanks,

John

I have a 2001 DTS with NightVision. The camera in my car was replaced with a 2nd generation camera. The second generation camera's can have just the lens replaced.
So if I were you I would replace with the 2nd gen camera. Also they put a splitter in front of the camera to deflect road trash. Also a great Idea. Hope this helps.

My '01 DTS did not have the protection screen for the camera. I ordered one from GM Parts Direct and put it on tonight. You have to remove the grill to install it, but a 10mm deep well socket and 10 minutes will do the job.

The part number is 25721173 if anyone is interested. It includes the mounting screw with the screen.

Why not have the insurance company pay for it? Comp claims should not raise your premium. Like I said, it is the same as replacing a windshield.
