Hi, this might seem like a silly question, but how do I make my exhaust crack and pop? I was driving yesterday in sports model and as I was breaking I was able to drop the gear to 1st and the exhaust cracked and popped like popcorn.. lol.. I was wondering if there was a way to have the exhaust do this regularly or do I need to buy another exhaust like the performance one that Cadillac is selling. I remember driving a Alfa Romeo suv that was do this all the time, when you put it in track mode.

When the car senses aggressive driving in Sport and Track modes you’ll get the pop. Also you’ll hear it in manual mode when downshifting like you experienced.

It would make more of a pop if you replaced the muffler with aftermarket ones. You lose a lot of weight taking that suitcase muffler out also. For me that is a win win situation.

First I want to say that I know there are no real performance gains to swapping mufflers but this was the closest place I could find to post this. ;) I didn't want to pay the enormous price of Corsa and there just isn't any other exhaust options out there for our Vsports. I have had Magnaflow...

Annoying! I put high performance baffles in my Vance & Hines exhaust on my Harley for one day and out they came. The pop from back pressure was annoying to me so I know it was also to the people hearing it in their houses.

The good part of it is there isn't any drone and it is minor pop and crack when you get on the car. Normal driving there isn't much difference. But when you get on the gas in a hurry switching gears or down shifting in sport mode you get some pop and crack. Especially when you have a trifecta tune. But to me you should have some noise coming from a performance car. The big thing is weight loss of the big suitcase oem muffler.
As you know it isn't a Harley and they make extreme noise that will rattle your house. Kind of like my subwoofer in the trunk.

I saw this post the other day and did a little digging. There was a previous post from a few years back about the magnaflow setup having a vibration and being drony. I think this was acutally for a FULL cat back magnaflow setup, not just the muffler section as described in this. That thread never came to a firm conclusion if it was the muffler setup or if something loose/missing was causing the issue.

Very interested in this muffler only setup. I had started a thread a bit after I purchased the car and was wondering why the pops werent there after hearing them on a previous test drive (not the car I bought). The feedback pointed to that car having the GM performance exhaust that does have more pops.

I have shake because of the mufflers. Only because the back hangers aren't hooked up to the pipes. The way mine is hooked up the back bumper is holding most of the weight. I replaced the tips with a dual tip. Spring I will put the hangers on but mine shakes. No drone though. If you take that stock muffler off you will see the weight this thing has. All the weight savings done in this car and put that boat anchor in the rear is crazy.

Corsa is the GM Performance system. It is only a muffler replacement.

In my experience, Magnaflows are deeper and more mellow. Corsas are also a straight thru design but use chambers to control sound as opposed to packing that Magnaflow uses. It's really a matter of what sound you prefer.

Well the job of someone building a race car is to get rid of weight. Less weight the better as you know. Power to weight ratio is going to better which makes for a better race car. If you are saying the feel of the car yeah it's going to feel different. Adding weight isn't going to be better.

For me none of it matters because I have a 100 pounds of stereo equipment in my trunk so I'm now heavier in the rear than stock. If i go to the drag strip that will come out though because i want a faster car. This is almost like saying leave the car alone because they know best. They made the car to try and last for the consumer so somethings are dummied up. Also its like saying a trifecta tune isn't going to help a 1/4 mile time or make you have more fun driving the car. I have found where my car feels best to me and its without more weight then needed in the rear.
Also remember they want the car as quiet as they can get it with all the baffles and stuff in that stock muffler. That's not what I want. But that is all up to you to find out if you want to. I never leave my cars alone. I never just buy a car and just drive it. Things need to change.

Totally agreed, yeah if you’re a drag type guy 100% remove the weight. I’m a cornering, love the feel of the snap turns and shoot out of the apex kind a guy. So I love a stiff chassis, suspension and great weight distribution low and preferably rear to the car in a RWD. But you actually gave me a nice option to replace the suitcase muffler with the magnaflows but put in a sound system to offset it!

It worked well for me. I didnt plan it that way but that's what happened. I didnt plan on a 70lb subwoofer in the trunk. I never had a sub that heavy but I kept blowing subs. So I bought an xtrpro 15 with a made mdf,fiberglass,and reinforced braced box. Then the amps add up fast in weight. But I need my music so it was a swap for me. I am heavier in the rear now but I am happy how the car hooks up off the line. So yeah it worked well for me. With that suitcase back there my car would sag now. But with nothing in the trunk and no suitcase the car was lifted in the rear. If you put a sound system send pics I'm into that stuff since I was a kid.
