I recently purchased a 2002 base Deville. 100,000 miles and in very nice condition. But the courtesy/entry illumination lights don't work. If you push the manual buttons, the rear and reading lights work. The dash dimmer switch will not turn them on, doors opening won't turn them on. I pulled the DTC codes but nothing stands out. Is this a RIM or IPM or communication problem? I'm asking before I take it to a (gulp) dealer.

Thanks

Make sure to try them after it is dark. They are under control of the photo cell that controls the headlights.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried at night, no go, and I know the photocell works because other features tied to it work.

Just a follow up on my courtesy light problem. I, inadvertently, let the battery go completely dead over the weekend. When I jumped the car to get it started, the courtesy lights are working now. I don't know why, but they are.
