Hello,

I'm considering purchasing a 2003 CTS for my son (his dream car). It's a V6 car with 170K. The car blew a pushrod. I'm an experienced auto tech, but have primarily worked on European (and some Japanese) cars. I'm leary of first year/first gen cars, but this one has an excellent asking price due to the push rod. Is this a common issue for these cars or am I probably looking at swapping a motor?

No pushrods on this car. It's a DOHC.
Ohhhh...I thought a push rod engine sounded too ole' school for this modern car. Yeah, if the timing belt broke...could have some bent valves and a dented piston head. Do you know any CTS owners that suffered a failed timing belt and didn't ruin the motor?
