Ok, so today I took my truck into my local Midas because I knew something was wrong. My back-end was swaying on the highway a tad and I figured I'd have them look it. Well, turns out both the bags in my rear shocks were torn. So, I had them replace the shocks. (We won't get into how much the parts cost...) I asked the technician if my compressor was Ok and he said that he is assuming its fine. Now, the truck definitely rides 100x better and actually sits a little higher. My question is, how can I be sure that my compressor is operating just fine? I don't think I've ever heard it before, is it a distinct sound, like the compressor that runs for filling tires with air? Can you hear it from inside the car at idle, or do you have to be outside and next to the rear wheels?
Oh and just a side note, my Service Ride Control message has NEVER come on and continues to not show. I'm assuming this is a good sign
Thanks In Advance!
UPDATE: So I did some digging through the archives, from what I've read this compressor can be loud and obvious or quiet. So I just now went out and turned the key to Run, ran back and put my ear next to the rear wheel and heard a quiet humming noise that lasted about 3 seconds. I turned the truck to off, turned it to on again, and heard the hum again. I'm assuming this is startup test for the pump?
