Thought some of the more brave members would like to give this a try if they already havent. By pushing the TC button twice the stabilitrak goes into Competitive driving mode just like a Vette etc. Competitive mode will be displayed in the DIC.
I played around with this mode for a while and must say that it makes driving this car an absolute blast and gives you a feeling of confidence that you dont get when you turn the system completely off. Im unaware of the particulars of what it is doing. I can say one thing in this mode my car seems to have allot more ooomph from a dead stop that it was once lacking. It even spun the rear wheels a tad which I have never been able to coax out of it before. I also noticed a difference in peddle feel and how the car behaved under hard braking, maybe that was just me but there seemed to be a difference with the ABS system. Overall it seems like a fun mode to play with your car in an isolated, controled environment.
A few of my friends and I might be going to a friends "track" here soon and If i decide to go (decide that I want to risk my car for no reason) Ill let y'all know how the Caddy stacks up.

Can we confirm this in the manual? Whats the difference between SPORT Mode and COMPETITIVE driving mode? ...

Competitive Driving Mode:

-Disables traction control
-Raises the threshold for intervention on Stabilitrak
-Removes some of the delay between "commanded" throttle position and "actual" throttle position

All changes to the way the car shifts are accomplished putting the gear lever in the "Sport" shift mode. Sport Automatic + Competitive driving mode = good times. If you really want to hang it out at the track hold the TC button for 5 seconds and completely disable all the driver aids, but just be careful: Many depressing threads in the CTS-V section have begun with the words, "So I turned off my Stabilitrak......"

:duh:

Sport mode works on the transmission only, changing the shift points so that the engine revs a bit higher before it upshifts, and downshifts more quickly when accelerating, etc.

The competitive driving mode doesn't affect the tranny. Rather, it turns off traction control system but apparently leaves on StabiliTrak. The manual covers it, but it's confusing, to say the least, especially when you try to figure out how the limited-slip differential fits in.

Just be aware of this warning from the manual:

Notice: When traction control is turned off, or
Competitive Driving Mode is active, it is possible to
lose traction. If you attempt to shift with the rear
wheels spinning with a loss of traction, it is possible
to cause damage to the transmission. Do not
attempt to shift when the rear wheels do not have
traction. Damage caused by misuse of the vehicle is
not covered. See your warranty book for additional
information.

does this exist for the AWD as well???
Try it out. I played with my car a bit more today and have to say that while not a night and day transformation it sure does change things up. Competitive mode and sport mode make for a very engaging and fun driving experience in this car. Far more than you get from the standard driving mode.

Tony/Judge, does competitive mode effect the ABS system? I noticed that the car behaved differently under heavy braking. I also noticed it again today, very suttle and it could just be me but im just curious.

Hey guys, guess what? Kidding

Competitive driving mode makes you look and feel like a professional drifter. Standard mode allows less than 5% of yaw, whereas competitive mode allows 20%. It really is a blast. Turning it all off, not something I am doing with a $50k car on public roads.

Give this a shot, if you have a nice sweeping turn that you know really well, SMASH the throttle (while in competitive mode) way before you should mid corner. The back end loosens up, rotates, and the car goes. Minimal counter-steering input and a Kool-aid smile plastered to your face.

I did try the "cometitive mode" at least twice....even on wet road...could not spin the wheels during start up....I think a electronic nany is taking care of it....I did not push the car hard anough going around the corners so I did not see any difference....anyway, if one wants to take the CTS to the track the competitive mode would help I have no doubts....
