It has happened to me a few times.

I get in my car in the morning during cold weather, and I cannot get it out of Park. I keep trying until finally the button snaps in and I'm able to put it in Reverse or in Drive.

There is no relationship to the brake pedal, I try and try and try, until it finally works.

This has so far only happened when the weather is cold (not necessarily freezing).

Is it the BTSI solenoid? Or is it a mechanical issue? Any advice is appreciated--I don't want to be stranded due to the button getting stiff.:helpless:

Thanks.

I had the same problem with a 99 Buick Century, (traded that in to get the 99 STS). It turned out to be a problem with the BTSI switch wires - at the switch. I checked that before I brought it to the dealer but I didn't realise there are 2 switched at the petal.
Hopefully this will help...
