For the winter, I usually take the cold air intake off (it supposedly helps the engine warm up). Last week, when everything warmed up, I put the snorkel back on, and left it on when the temperature dropped.

With the snorkel off and with an average temperature below 25, the coolant gauge reads about 210-215. With it on, during a week where the daily high was 15, the gauge read from 215-230. I took it off today (about 40 degrees) and the temperature never went above 212.

What gives? There aren't any restrictions in the tube and the engine doesn't run any differently with the cold air intake on or off.

Also, what temperature should the 307 be running at (stock thermostat; 195)?
