================================
B0428 - Air Mix Door #3 Inoperative Error
the #3 mix door is for the back seat temp -

it is actually controlled by the "inner" part of the #2 mix door actuator -

the above pic is the back side of the #2 mix door actuator -

the larger outer square shaft controls the #2 mix door -

the smaller inner round-looking part is supposed to be "D" shaped -
and that controls the #3 mix door -
this one is worn out - and typically throw the B0249 or B0248 codes

the part you need is ACDelco 15-73428 - $56.82 - with free shipping -
http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-15-73428-Original-Equipment-Temperature/dp/B001S8G8Q8/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Cadillac|46&Model=DeVille|406&Year=2002|2002&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&newVehicle=1&s=automotive&vehicleId=1&vehicleType=automotive

you will be happy to know that it is VERY easy to replace -
by removing the glove box -

go here for instructions - with pics -

basscatt, Thank you for the quick reply and all the wonderful information you have provided. I am sure this will help make the job a lot simpler. I do have a cd changer in my glove box. Would you happen to have information on how to take that out? Al;so thank you for the link on where I can get this part for a reasonable price.
Thanks again, WVUDave
