GUYS AND GALS

I looked around the previous posts on this issue but didn't see anything that was the same or relevant issue.
So... I noticed a week back that the car [07, 3.6L] started to miss fire. Flashing engine light when running, solid at idle. coded it and it came up with a cylinder 5 miss fire [p0300] went out bought a OEM spec ignition coil which i just switched out. I go to fire it up and the miss fire is still evident. I did the ghetto coil test [pulled the connection to see worse or better, no improvement or decline- so #5 is still the problem]
Im thinking it maybe the plug but i changed those out last year. I know until I pull the plugs and take a look at them it could or couldn't be but I thought to ask if anyone had any suggestions or thoughts.
no leaks
no rattle
no whine
just a shitty sputter and even shittier gas mileage.
And be it that this is the day to day car I have no choice but to run it in hopes that it wont do additional damage.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks guys
mike

talking to a mechanic buddy of mine he is thinking that there might be oil in the chamber. give it the situation of how the miss fire started it seems fitting. cold morning started her up and let it warm up for a few minutes. started out to the bank and thats when the sputter started. May not have been the ignition coil- might be a blown seal. what are tell tale sign of that? other than pulling the plug and seeing if there is oil in the chamber?
