I have a service vechile soon light and the code was P025, which is (Ingnition Control Module) 24x Referance Low Indicator. What does that mean? Am I giong to get stuck somewhere because it won't start? This lady needs help. I used to work on my old '86 fleetwood. But I'm almost afraid to do any thing to the N*.

It basically means that there is a bad circut between the PCM and the ICM. The bad spot in the circut could be in the PCM, the wire, or the ICM.

Here, these should help...

If you look down at the bottom of this diagram you will see the circut that is having the problems. "24x CRANK"

It's on the driver's side all the way at the bottom corner of the radiator. It's kind of difficult to access but it can be done. There are no block drains on a Northstar engine. When you refill, make sure to use a 50/50 mix of green coolant and distilled water, and get the 6 Bar's Leaks pellets or 2 tubes of Bar's Leaks Golden Seal powder and install it to the radiator hose (either one in my opinion) before refilling the system. Don't put any flush chemicals in it and don't use tap water to fill it up. Full level is about 1-2" below the surge tank cap. The system is self-burping, so there is no need to work any air out of the system.

I had the same problem with P025 and it turned out to be a malfunctioning Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The problems associated with this code (rough idling, near stalling, sputtering, and overall poor performance, particularly when accelerating after stopping). I replaced the PCM and now everything runs smooth with no more problems.

OMG finally I found a thread from all my searching that looks like someone resolved their p025 code!!! Thank you MAC! I am more clear on how I should proceed. I imagine you switched your PROM thing into the new one before installing? I know this much, as a help for future Cadillac owners I will tell what happened and not just disappear like most people. I want there to be a record of what fixed my dreaded p025 code. I have all the same symptoms as guys previous. When it switches from using 24x reference signal to 4x signal such as in highway cruising it runs perfect. But at idle and low speed its just not fun, it runs but just nasty all over the map idle. I will try get a PCM in the junkyard and I think I have a car in mind.

Only one that I know of. I think for most people it's like shopping. They come looking for something and once they find it, they don't come back to say they liked it. They return when they need something else.
