Hello, I have a 1998 DeVille that is causing me a little problem that has occurred twice this week. The Caddy runs great all day then late at night I try to start the car and I get the message of engine disabled EXP 33, wait 3 minutes before starting the car. So, the timer counts down 3 minutes, the car tells me to start, and the car starts right up. Why is this occurring? It's becoming very annoying. Thanks for your help. Scott

Try a spare key to see if that helps. Maybe the resistor pellet contacts are getting worn down and not making contact.

This is a common problem with GM cars with Passkey. Could be dirty contacts on the key pellet, or intermittent wires in the steering column hooked to the ignition switch tumbler. I usually bypass the pellet sensor with a fixed resistor (measure the resistance of the pellet) soldered to the wires going into the Passkey module. On Cadillac, it's usually in the trunk. Buick hides them under the dash.
