I can remember reading one in our community had repaired this problem. If that person could let me know what he soldered or replaced to get the lights to stay on. right now maybe once a week I will have to give it a hit to get it to come on. I searched for a half hour with no luck.

The power supply is the weak link.
Made by TDK. It's a vacuum fluorescent, desplay (VFD) power supply.
Something like 12v in & 100v out with dimming capability.
TDK has 100's of listings for these. Couldn't find the exact part number.
Didn't have enough info to cross reference.

Most send it out for repair.
Places found on Ebay & internet.

Some other car models people bought a generic VFD power supply and wired it in.
Might of lost the dimming capability. There are articals about it on the net & parts on Amizon.

My fix.
Take the dash out when it acts up.
Strip the dash down to the minimum digital display.
Start wiggeling & pressing things.

There is a small circuit board attached to the main board.
That's the power supply.
Tap or wiggle that area.
Mine seemed like the choke coil had a bad soder connection or broken coil wire.

Correct way would have ben to desoder the 8 pins on the board. Remove the board.
Resoder the componants and or replace the choke.

Didn't have a small sodering iron & desodering tool.
So I pressed it down tight an squarted som hot glue on it.
Not the way I like to fix things, but problem solved.

Plug it back in to test. Tap test it.
Reassembel and reinstall the cluster.

I have about 8 spare clusters that I have saved, but I want to keep the right mileage.. I have had more than one act up like this. I will take one that I have tagged as trouble and see if I can see anything. Just trying to get any tips.
