Hi guys,
I have a 2000 Seville with problems with my climate control. When i pull the codes, no codes come up. Here is the problem.

When i turn my heat on auto it blows cold air until i turn it on manual 90 degrees i don't get any heat. The outside temp gage is reading 140 degrees all the time. Any ideas what the problem may be?

Thank you again for all your help

Hello...
The system is totally automatic and the vehicle must know what the external temperature is in order to work properly.
(Cold out=hot air blowing/Hot out=cold air blowing)

You will probably need to replaced the OAT sensor which is located under the hood behind the grill.

Post back your solution.

Since the car uses a cabin air tempurature sensor in the asperator line to sample cabin temp, I am not 100% sure that the OAT sensor is used for this purpose. However, since it is reading 140 degrees, I would definately change it as Eldawgg suggested and see if that cures it. Let us know what happens as that will definately tell us whether the OAT sensor plays a role or not. If that doesn't help, I would check for a sticking actuator or air mix door.

Hello...

I see your point, Ranger.
I don't know about the OAT affecting interior temperature either.
I realize the cabin air temp sensor does this...
I just look at it like a system of "checks and balances."
I would think the climate control needs to know both temperatures to
more effectively heat/cool the cabin and direct the air flow.

What would happen if the system were set to "auto"
and the car was parked outside on a sunny winter's day?
(one of those days in March)
Vehicle would read cold(!) outside and warm(?) inside.
Exterior temp calls for heat,
Interior temp calls for cool.
The automatic system will just try to match the degree setting, wouldn't it?

Sometimes I miss the regular ole GM AirConditioning slide switches!

FWIW

In the scenario you discribe I would expect the system to cool the interior til it reached the requested temp, then switch to a blend to maintain it.
