I have the beautiful 9 spoke wheels on my 1SG with performance package. They are constantly accumulating brake dust. Cleaning lasts about 2 days. Is there any protectant that can be applied to keep them clean longer?
Any synthetic/polymer sealer should do the trick. I use Klasse All-In-One on our cars' wheels, occasionally topping with a coat of Klasse Sealant Glaze. It's one of the most hearty, longest lasting, and highest shine sealants available--imported straight from Germany.
There's also a wheel specific wax intended to combat just what you described--excess brake dust build up--while covering the wheels with a slick and long-lasting seal. It's called Wheel Wax. I've never used it because I've had such great results from Klasse (which I also use on the paint), but others seem to like it.
On the other hand, one thing you DON'T want to use on wheels is your typical full/partial carnauba wax, as it will simply melt and break down quickly with the heat from the wheels.
yes .. i'd agree with with the Klasse on wheels ... but recently i've been using a product called ReJex ... works well on wheels and i used it on the nose and mirrors ... makes the Love Bugs , in Florida, quite a bit easier to remove .... Klasse would work as well ... but i found ReJex a litte easier to use .... i also dust wheels/car with California Duster daily ...
i also tried the Klasse on my side and rear windows on my SUV ... they stay cleaner much, much longer .... and using the duster cleans them right up ..
Change the brake pads, for short money, to ceramic, then apply wheel wax. Your rims will stay clean as long as the body of your car. I changed to 20" rims from MC2ing, bright polished chrome. Once a week i just run a mini california duster over them and they are perfect.
