I'm bringing this thread over from the CTS Forum as there has been talk here about engine covers. Pete tells me that there are variations of chrome available like "Black Chrome". We need at least 10 buys to qualify. Count me as number one.:D

Group Buy - CTS Engine Hood Cover - Chrome Plated
Custom Chrome Plated Engine Hood Cover

GROUP BUY DISCOUNT!

Cadillac MotorSports, Ltd.

We have an in-house hexavalent chrome plating process that allows us to chrome plate any plastic or polycarbonate substrate utilizing a copper, nickel and chrome plating process that actually places a metal surface over just about any plastic substrate.

THIS IS NOT A CHROME SPRAY PAINT. This is a 3 stage hexavalent chrome plating process!

The way this is accomplished is in how the substrate ( the plastic engine cover in this case ) is treated to create the adhesion properties for the 3 stage or hexavalent chrome to bind to the plastic substrate.

If you would like an example of the refractory process and hardness of the finish looks and appears; it is "exactly the same as the trim molding on the front of your CTS HOOD!"

That particular piece of hood trim molding is ABS plastic and looks and feels like chrome plated metal with all of the same protective properties. We utilize the same in house equipment and process to chrome plate plastic. Again, this is a plating process and not a chrome colored spray paint!

We normally charge $295.00 for this chrome plating process and provide a 1 year warranty.

If anyone is interested in a GROUP BUY....here you go!

10 orders will provide a 20% discount and your cost will be $225 plus shipping and insurance by UPS Ground. That is a savings of $70.00 per engine cover!

15 orders will provide a 30% discount and your cost will be $200 plus shipping and insurance by UPS Ground. That is a savings of $95.00 per engine cover!

Let me know who's interested and we'll see what we can put together. Satisfaction is absolutely guaranteed and heat under the hood is NOT an issue with regard to this chrome plating process! You will absolutely swear that when you receive this engine hood cover back that is is metal!

For those who have additional interest, we can also chrome plate your fuse box cover and radiator engine shroud if it happens to be the large black ABS polycarbonate cover that is similiar to the shroud cover on the CTS-V, ( not the flimsy rubber flap cover). In addition, for an additional charge we can anodize the final stage of the chrome plating with a dye pigament to add coloration to the chrome creating such colors as red chrome, black chrome, smoked chrome, green chrome etc. Special requests will be handled on a case by case basis.

Ok Cadillac Forum Members.......lets see who is interested in the standard Chrome Plated Engine Hood Cover. We also offer the same price on the gray plastic CTS grill and can Chrome Plate that at well.

Remember, satisfaction is guaranteed and never any disappointments from CMS, Ltd.

best regards - Pete Raimondi

I'VE ASKED PETE FOR PICTURES. HE THOUGHT HE WOULD HAVE SOME TODAY (wED.)
Black Chrome would be wicked, would make a nice background a killer multi-color flame paint job.

Are they able to 'mask off' the emblems? Or will they get chromed also?

The emblem gets masked off.:yup:
The threads really get buried quickly here in the V Forum!:bonkers:

I'D LIKE TO BRING THIS TO THE TOP AGAIN.

We need to get some pics from Pete! I don't know how consistant our orders have to be but I wonder how my CTS would look with a black chrome grill with the Raven Black paint? He also chromes the fuse cover, radiator cover..anything that's plastic but it's not a part of the group buy.
not to hijack this thread but how about the carbon fiber engine, rad, and tower-to-tower brace

Mr Goodwrench markets one for $995.00:eek:
Makes the $200 chrome sound cheap!:D
"We are able to hexavalent chrome just about any type of substrate with the exception of rubber. We can chrome plate, wood, plastic, glass, aluminum, pot metal, cast iron, ductile iron, spun alloy etc. We have even chrome plated a light bulb" Pete Raimondi

I bet chrome calipers would look HOT :yup:
I'm sending my engine cover to Pete next week..along with my fuse cover and radiator seal cover, all to be chromed. I'm tired of waiting for any others.:yup:
Huh, I wonder what the Z06 fuel rail covers would look liked Chromed?

Pete says he can chrome plate just about any rigid material..metal, plastic, wood etc. exception is rubber. I'm going with the "black chrome" on my black CTS
Guys, really...there should be a limit on how much chrome is acceptable. Engine covers??? Is that really worth it? I'll wait to see how they look, but something just tells me that this isn't going to end well.

On a positive note, I have a client in Farmingdale that does the same thing. I was amazed at how well it really comes out, chrome on plastic...what will they think of next?

That's why I'm opting for the "Black Chrome" to keep the Bling factor down. If you wait the group buy price won't be there for you.
Pete sweetened the pot a bit. Buy the engine cover chroming and he will plate your fuse box cover or a volant cover for $50 ea.

Here's the Cadillac MotorSports(Pete) email address.

I finally found a box suitable for shipping my parts to Pete at Cadillac MotorSports for "Black Chroming". Here are the items: The Engine Cover, Fuse Box Cover, the new rigid Radiator A/C Cover and the chrome strip above the grill.

I'm really anxious to see how it come together.:bouncy:
Several of you guys expressed some interest in the plated engine cover. There is also discounts on other items if you order the cover. Pete sweetened the pot a bit. Buy the engine cover chroming and he will plate your fuse box cover or a volant cover for $50 ea.

I'm trying to pull this group buy together. I have 3 orders but I need 10. Pete wants a list total before appling the discount.

Any Takers?:hmm: :D
