installed a $59 chinese hid kit in my fogs and the passenger side flickers white on start up and the other side works fine. Ordered these from over seas and not worth sending back for warrenty. should i buck up and buy a better hid kit?? or is there a known problem with these??

Got the same exact problem, I have tried two other different ballast and they do the same....... I think it has to do with a voltage fluctuation to the ballast on start-up, oddly enough it doesn't seem to do it with my HID fog lights...... I've just learn to live with it

I'm assumiing it flickers but it doesn't work. Is that correct? I had a set like that, one worked, the other just flickered, I contacted the seller, he sent me another bulb, that was the problem. It just took a while to get it
Mine just flickered when it turn on (engine start-up).... then worked fine............
it flickers white/yellow then it works fine, but the other side doesnt do it. Here is a picture of the box

GM is known to have this type of problem when you install hids some times only one light will turn on its the fact that they use underpowered batteries for their vehicles
A good quality HID kit won't flicker or cause problems. The ballasts and bulbs from cheaper kits are usually poor quality and will have problems like flickering, inconsitent arc ignition, and much shorter bulb life.

troll or truth?

The batteries aren't the problem. If that was the case, then vehicles cars that use batteries with less CCA, mha, and reserve capacity ratings would cause problems with HID kits all the time. I gaurantee if you're having problems with a bulb not igniting or a flickering issue, that a new high quality battery won't fix the problem.
And GM doesn't have a known problem when installing aftermarket HID kits or using "underpowered" batteries; it's the cheap HID kits themselves that are the problem. Use that same cheap kit in a Chrysler, MB, BMW, or whatever else and you will have the same problem.

i think what JAK is trying to say, you get what you pay for...buy cheap, then you get crap...spend a few extra $, and get a decent product...
