Ive been getting this warning on the dash the last few days even thou I filled the oil to the correct level on the stick. Im wondering if my issuse with the ELC is causing my problem. My ElC is causing my car to be "jacked up" in back to the max. Im not gonna fix that till the weather around here gets a little nicer . tx

NO - while it might SLIGHTLY affect an accurate reading -
the problem is the OIL LEVEL SENSOR - it screws into the side of the oil pan -
you can check that the plug is clean and tight -
but it is probably defective - and needs to be replaced -

for a new delco switch -
the best price I found was $27 including shipping -

Thanks guys. Now that I know that the sensor is out side of the oil pan it makes sense.. My alley is nasty between lack of proper maintenance by the city and the snow. Its like off roading back there. Could the connector have been pulled of or damaged?

The sensor is not outside the pan, the connector is, but the sensor itself is threaded into the pan and extends into the pan. If you replace it you have to drain at least some of the oil, or it will pour out the hole the sensor threads into when you take it out. Check your wiring and the connector first, the connector does get filthy, and the wiring is also known for chafing inside the plastic tubing that protects the wires and eventually break. check where the smaller plastic tube coming from the sensor, (and alternator and A/c compressor) meets up with the bigger tube that runs across the front lip of the subframe.

Oil level sensor ................ The float and reed switch is pretty close the center line of the pan so a several degree attitude change in the car's position would have practically no effect on the sensor switch itself.
