Check Engine Light

I have a 2000 cadillac catera sport, the check engine light recently came on. When I start the car up the light keeps a steady blink then stays solid, after driving, the light begins to flicker. The engine seems to studder or misfire around low RPMs (500 - 2000) but once i get over 3000RPMs the car seems fine.

Any idea of what might be wrong with the engine and how much it may cost to fix the problem?

You definately have a misfire situation. Quite likely it is one of the ignition coils. Take it to a mechanic and have them put the scanner on it and it will tell you which coil. Coils cost about $80 on ebay.
my light came on again yesturday morning. So like I always do I took it in to autozone to get it checked. They really were no help to me. They guy said something about air induction was off or something along those lines. Told me to make sure my air filter was clean yada yada yada. Well I keep up on the maintence of my caddy so I know that is definatly not the case. I have deep feelings that maybe the maf may be going bad. Although the car runs no different. But the engine light has not gone out. I'm going to take it back and get the code and repost later. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
when you take it to autozone just have them tell you the codes then go home and look them up and google. It will give you a description like Cylinder 6 Misfire or Secondary Air Injection Inccorect Flow (i know, ive had both of those) If you look it up and you dont understand what it means then just go back to google and type in the description, you should get plenty of sites explaining exactly what is wrong without fancy words and also how to fix it.
I think the Catera is just an attention whore cause my check engine light always comes on. No matter how many problems I fix! ha

or maybe its a car that has alot of problems. If you think its just an attention whore and you dont pay any attention to the check engine lights, your gonna end up screwing yourself...
