Just wait till any of you guys are ready to change the spark plugs on your car. You need to remove the intake manifold just to get to the spark plugs meaning you will have to replace the intake manifold gasket. This is nutts but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do to put in iridium spark plugs. Cadillac made this engine soo difficult to work on. :bonkers:

I also am unable to see the wires set up due to all the gobbeldy goop in the way. Is their some replacement possibility their. Plus Marine , what else you got going on with your ride. Detail's my man detail's. Damn this car's like crack!! :alchi:

The platinum plugs have been known to lose their little pucks. Also, back in my LS1 days owners said they got better idle quality with a good set of TR55s, even if they only lasted 30 Mm or so. And with N2O you will definitely want to swap out the OEMs.

I agree as I continue to have a slightly lumpy idle that i'm told is normal. I had the same in my 94 Grand prix, the plugs and wires eliminated it and I ran them as is until my brother bought the car with 129K (100k on this set up) Right now I'm at 30K and I think its time for a fix.

I am replacing them because I insalled headers from Cadillac Motorsports and the airflow increased soo much that the platinum plugs are not doing it.

I dont think new wires will make a difference and I am pretty sure they dont make after market wires for our CTS. I am using Denso Iridium plugs. For the guy that wanted the part number here it is IKH20

Yeah, I didn't think so either; I sort of asked the question before I looked up the answer for myself. But this seems like something that's on my to-do list still. Let us know how long it takes to do the complete job once you know. And to think, all this for a few spark plugs.

I think someone else should take the plunge with me and upgrade the sparkplugs

I'm trying not to bite of more then I can chew but........ do you have the torque settings for the bolts to the intake, I've got a V-exhaust, the volant and the upgraded bulbs on my todo list ( projects - projects - projects ). I'll ask my caddy parts guy about the wires so we can better understand the type of wire used currently.

Ok just take the bite order your iridium plugs here
http://www.densoproducts.com/resultsSearch.asp?s=9&txtPartNumber=IKH20

Then order the intake manifold gasket from gmpartsdirect.com the P/N is 12595278 Then just remove UPPER intake manifold which is held on by 2 bolts to the lower intake manifold. replace the spark plugs put the new gasket in and put the upper intake manifold and torque the bolts to 17 Ft Pounds. I would order the Gasket now since it takes a while to come in but I think I am going to pay the Extra $ and get the gasket from the dealer since I already have the iridium plugs.

I would not worry about changing the wires on the CTS I examined the wires and I dont think you will find after market wires better than the stock ones. Bite Bite Bite:mad2:

PLEASE Disreguard the part number I gave for the Intake Manifold Gasket. that P/N is for the Whole Intake manifold gasket. To change the spark p lugs you only have to remove the upper intake manifold from the lower intake manifold which requires different gaskets. I will have the part number Monday.

Also torque plugs to 15 Inch Pounds.

BTW IF you are using a wrench type socket to put on the torque wrench it must be in a 90 degree angle for the torque to be acurate. if its not in a 90 degree angle you need to use this crazy formula which I can get if necessary but you should not need it.
