Thanks Mike for that great thread link, I will have to remember that when it comes time for my 'generator' to be replaced. Odd though, the shop manual recommends that you remove the rad and the some of the front end. No wonder the dealer costs so much..

Yeah, I don't know why they tell you to remove the radiator. There is absolutely no need to do that. It's ridiculous. Just unbolt the torque strut and bend it back out of the way and you can get to the top part of the alternator from above. I think I also pulled the fan out of there, which is just a matter of disconnecting the wire harness and pulling it up and out. The rest of the removal can be done from below. It's a little tight and slightly frustrating, but a lot less frustrating than removing the radiator and all the associated cooling system work. Let us know what you do and how it turns out...

just got done with the alt change it took me like 45 minutes, I did it tru the bottom part, but i did have to remove the fan.
I did it my self and saved $400 in labor :thumbsup:
