My CD changer on my 2005 Escalade ESV just stopped working. It was full of CD's. I purchased a factory replacement and easily installed it. Problem is, it did not get recognized on the digital radio screen as even being in existence. It was quite easy to remove the old and put in the new, but i was disappointed when the new one would not work. I removed the battery cable to try and "re-boot." It was strange because it would only recognize the CD in the 1st chamber. It only played that one CD. The others kept getting ejected. Weird. Now, it does not even play on the first one. I'm at wits end here because I hear horror stories about how it has to go to the dealer to be done and reprogrammed for big $$$. Is there any alternative or secret to getting this CD player to work?

I like to keep things stock myself but it may be best to look into an aftermarket head unit as most still play CDs. I looked at the going rate for OEM 6 disk CD changers and for that cost, I would just go aftermarket. As for your existing CD changer, I don't believe there is a scanner set up required for it. Especially since it plays the first slot. It may be defective or some weird setting from the OEM head unit needs to be adjusted.

Good Luck
