CD Changer installed, now What? Please Help Iv'e got a 2001 Deville DTS. Installed Changer in the glovebox, found the 10 pin wire, modified the glovebox, no problem! The Changer is getting power as it is cycling through the disks, BUT the system does NOT recognize the changer as a Source!!?? Perhaps a configuration step? Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks and Happy Cadillac'n!!

Where did you get the changer?
Which radio do you have in the car? Does it have navigation?
Some radio heads are not compatible with all the changers out there.
You might have to try a different part number. I had that problem on an '01 also. The unit I got from Specmo was not the same part number as the one I took out, so it didn't function. Once I got the same part number as the one I removed it worked like a charm.

From Ebay, indications it possibly came from a 02 Deville. I have Factory Bose, NO NAV. Changer appears to be Delco, I will post part number if it will help you to shed more light on this! Thanks very much.

Thanks Don. Tried that, also pulled the Audio Fuse, and reconnected with changer installed, hoping for some recognition. NOPE! The guy I got it from Luckily is Local to me, and is willing to try a few more units to get one working. Reading other posts, seems possible that only certain delco part numbers work with certain years!? I will update post if I find something that could possibly help anyone else.

I don't have part number information.
If we are slow today at work I'll look into your situation but I can't make any promises.
The '01 I was working with was the only one I have had problems with.

See when you plug the CD changer in, it uses what we call the E&C bus to request control of the radio for audio output. If the signal to the radio is not the correct one, the radio will act like there is no unit there.
It really sounds like a part number issue to me. It's sad really because they all look identical. They just have different part numbers.

Maybe I'll get lucky and see an '01 with a CD changer today??!!
You say it's a non-nav unit with Bose... I'll try to keep my eyes open but I have a really bad memory sometimes.

You need to get a changer from a 2001 or OLDER car.
Since 2002 the changer uses the serial bus to communicate with the Head Unit.

Here are the two different 10 hole Connectors:

Older than 2002:

1) Brown White
2) Dark Green /White
3) Black/White
4) Bare
5) Orange
6) Not Used
7) Black/White
8) Not Used
9) Not Used
10) Dark Green............(835-Entertainment and Comfort Serial Data)

2002 and up models:

1) Brown/White
2) Dark Green /White
3) Black/White
4) Bare
5) Orange
6) Not Used
7) Black/White
8) Not Used
9) Purple.....................(Data Bus)
10) Purple...................(Data Bus)

So in your car's 10 hole connector you should have the hole nr.9 open and in hole nr.10 should be a Dark Green wire, right?

If this is what you have you need an older Disc Changer. (98-01)

Hello,

I am hoping you may be able to help me find the correct model number also... I do realize this post is quite old but I do hope someone can help.

I have a 98 Deville and need to know the correct model number for the cd changer and also if this is the correct connector that I have in my trunk.

I do appreciate any info anyone could provide.

Thank you again
Mark

The p/n: 16222546 should work for your car too.

Try on Ebay...

Thanks for the Info :)

unfortunatley I purchased one on ebay already before getting a response but will see if it works... no big deal if it does not, only cost me $56 bucks total for the 12 disc changer.
Now that I have the correct number if the first one bombs, on to the correct one :)

Will keep you posted either way and again thank you for the info.

Sincerely,
Mark
