Car won't move.

Hi everybody. This is my first time posting. Just wanted to get a couple inputs and some thoughts on what my problem could be. I have a 2005 3.6L CTS. My car won't move. I put it in drive and I can hear it go in gear but it just won't move. The RPM's fly up but no movement to wheels. The odd thing is that if I let it sit for a couple days and go try and move it, it'll drive around the block but shortly die on me. And when I say die I mean it just stops transferring power to the wheels and I'm back to the RPM's going up but no movement to my wheels. Don't know what it could be, would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

It's most likely the trans slipping.
I had this this same problem and ended up having to put a different transmission in.
I would be sure to check your trans fluid level before getting too carried away though.[/QUOTE]

Okay. How do I check the fluid level. I don't have a trans dipstick.

Yeah, unfortunately this car is a real peach and doesn't have a trans dipstick.
You'll need to jack her up on all fours and remove the fill bolt and pump fluid into it.

There's a guide over this way:

Might be worth changing the filter and all that fun stuff while you're at it, but I would probably avoid that and go with the easy route and fill it up.

Speedy transmission = I was having transmission problem of car will not move once heats up. I was told by
<Speedy> : "bad transmission."
I got the car home. I changed the transmission oil and filter and the car was fine. That was a $100 BLEEP
* Before issue i had no slippage, no noise, no leaking fluid, and car shifted ok. The problem was a blocked filter. I did it myself, $20 AutoZone filter + $18 Walmart 5 quart transmission fluid = less than $40 Bucks
