Pulled out of a parking space and the car bumped into gear from the rear as i was driving then I lost forward gears. The tranny felt like it was slipping then it would bang into gear but would slip as well. I had it towed to Cadillac. I think my car is just a lemon. What could be the cause of this problem?

:crying2::banghead::bonkers:

Onstar said it threw 2 transmission codes one being a shift solenoid? Could a blown fuse cause that to fail?

Update:

Dealer says cause of problem was the tranny cooler line came off and leaked the fluid out of the tranny causing it to slip? They have re-attached and re-filled with fluid and will test it tomorrow cold to see how it does. I hope this is the final problem so I can now enjoy the car.... :annoyed:

So you guys were right.

Thanks
Chris

I got the car back today. They fixed the line and the car seems okay. The 1-2 shift still feels kinda jerky.

Whatever they did fixed that overboost problem or at least the dealer told me it was overboost anyway WOT gives me no more problems now so I guess it was always low on fluid?

As I said in another post, when that happened to me, that jerking under full throttle, all it was , was the transmission fluid was about 1/2 quart too low. I prefaced it with..."Call me Crazy, but"...or was it "Call me Crazy Butt"...
...anyway...there it is.:bonkers:

Old tranny was too damaged to rebuild a new tranny is on order. Looks like ai will have a new drivetrain minus the rear differential lol.

In a way, it sounds like the best route for you. New engine and Xmission, now you'll know for sure the wear and tear it's had. :yup:

Its been over 3 weeks and still the car is sitting at the dealer waiting for a transmission. The loaner car I had for 2 of the weels was a chevy Cobalt!!! with 80 miles on it. I finally called and demanded an upgraded car so they gave me ....well enterprise gave me a 2008 STS which is not a bad car to be stuck in unlike the crappy Cobalt. Why would a caddy dealer let enterprise give a caddy owner a Cobalt is beyond me?
