I have an assortment of hardwood dowels for just this problem, and a small stubby ballpeen.
don't let it get cocked more than 1/16" or so before straightening it up. Slow and easy, don't go deeper than the original.
And be sure that snout is polished to perfection!
If any doubt, go get another seal, or it will have to be done again. This is no place to 'hope' or get 'lucky'.
