Oshawa, Ontario - GM Canada has announced that the all-new 2008 Cadillac CTS, arriving at dealers next month, will start at $38,900 with the standard 3.6-litre V6 engine, and $41,400 with the premium 3.6-litre V6 direct-injection engine.
In the 50s and 60s, premium engines cost about $75 more. You could jump from a 283 to a 327; With Ford, jump from 390 to a 427 for similar price.

Be realistic and adjust the price for inflation. It's around $500-600 of 2006's dollars.

Still less, but hey, did these engines run on unleaded fuel, produce 300hp for 3.6L (217 CID) etc etc etc..

$75 in 1960 would be a little more than $500 today. However, when you go from the base vehicle with the standard engine (6DM69) to the base vehicle with the direct injection (6DP69), you also go from a manual to an automatic which is a $1300 option.

when will it be released here?
It is already available for order in Canada. Several forum members in Canada have already placed orders. They started production on the 2008 model on July 16 and they are just starting to show up at dealers in very limited quantities.
