Can we discuss Pricing here?

Wifey wants a new car. (She's been in an '03 accord for 4 years now)
So we start looking at Lexus, Infinity, Acura, Honda, Toyota....etc......

My dad is a retired GM employee so I suggest we look at the Caddy's.
Fell in love with the V8 STS. Seemed Solid, responsive and unlike all the rest of the rides I listed above....the looks totally stand out from the pack of all the cookie cutter looking cars out on the road today.

Anyways, The sales guy printed me out the GM employee price for...
-the std STS V8
-Bose/Nav.....
-18's
-brakes

Employee Price came out like $5k under MSRP which IMO does not seem like any "smoking" deal.
Has GM's employee discount gotten stingy?

Can I do better simply negotiating a price?
I'm thinking I could wait until right before the 08's come out and make a deal on an '07.

Thanks in advance.
Love the looks and feel of the STS.

bump.....

What deals are people getting on the '07's?
Gm got cheap a number of years ago. I don't know if you can make a better deal just before the 08's come out but doubt it. Remember any Rebate you will still get using the employee pricing and the employee pricing is less than the dealer pays for it by a few hundred. I always use my discount at the beginning of the model year since the car will still sticker the same or possiblely more at the end of the run so why not drive it all model year since you will pay the same price. The 08's are having some changes done to them which has been talked about all over the web. One thing you may want to think about is the V6 instead of the V8 as the V6 gets a change in its fuel injection to direct injection which is going to give it about a 40 or so boost in HP. Should bring it close to the V8 for a whole lot less money. If I was you I'd wait till about the end of Sept. first of Oct. to see what is available in rebates and go with the redone V6. This year I bought mine on 9/23 and they had a 2145 dollar Nav. discount that was available even if you didn't buy the Nav. car.

ah....All great points.
And yes, I agree, GM has gotten a bit stingy with our discount.

Thanks for the reply!

I'll go onto GM's family first and build one with the V6 to check the price and see what incentives they offer.
search member Superior Cadillac here, contact him
Found him....but I need 20 post to be able to send him a PM.....

Maybe he'll find me?

Remember that the '08 STS starts shipping next month. You cannot order an '07 anymore.
When you are on gmfamilyfirst (need your dad's login), check out the tagged vehicle availability in your area. These are GM owned vehicles that have a few thousand miles on them. Most are in Michigan, but some are in other parts of the country, including California. Normally, only employees and retirees are eligible to tag a vehicle, but until July 9, family members are also eligible.
You can reach me directly at [email protected]

Or you can call me and I can give you prices.
GM is suppose to be announcing details of a fourth of July sale later this week or the first of next week. I am not sure if Cadillac is going to be a player in this sale. However, in Automotive News two weeks ago Mark LaNeve was quoted as saying there is going to be a big second half of the year push on STS and DTS.
OK....Thanks for all the info and replies!

I'm waiting for my dad to create a sign-in at the family-first site and then I'll go check on the "tagged" vehicles as suggested!

I can build a car using the GM Family First site but that's about all without a login.
We really want the V8.

PEP may be your best bet as the prices are pretty competitive. You have to act fast as the tagging for family is only good until July 9th (you have to have the car tagged and a PIN by 07/09) but can take delivery after this date if the car is still 'in service'. There are lots of V8s available in PEP now.
Bought my 07 V6 in Canada. MSRP was $72,400. Negotiated down to $58,400 with lease cash backs, delivery credits, $5,000 Cadillac loyalty cash and dealer took 3.1% over invoice price. No trade in as I was returning an 04 lease. Still left about $800 on the table, but you can't win them all.
I went to my local dealer last week after receiving a letter in the mail stating "100% market value trade-in policy." They had a sharp '06 STS sitting in the showroom. Thought I could get a better price on it than an '07.

To make a long story short, the sticker was 71,000 and they would only come down to 58,000 and offered me 22,000 on my '05 STS. LOL! (My car is fully loaded except for HUD) So much for their "100% market value trade-in policy" ...I walked.
Urbanski - Can you be kind enough to enable my PM feature also? I tried to PM ewill but ran into your rule.

If a person can find a clean two year old lease turn in you can usually buy them for 50% of what the sticker was if not a little less and many are still under full warrantee.
Maddog, my PM box was clogged the other day.
You can email me at [email protected] if you need to get in touch with me.
I am not sure if I can help you with anything related to this thread but... I am around.
If I can't answer the question maybe I can point you in the right direction.
Sorry I am late seeing this post.

Every once in a while I do a search for my name to see if anyone is looking for me :D

According to the posts in the STS V section, the MSRP is about $87k, and the sales are so slow that dealers are letting them go for $57k. Read that section for the past 4 to 5 weeks.

V = more car for $$ ??
