OK, describe the noise please. Squeaky, whiney, thumpy...yowling like a small animal??

Re-torqued you lug nuts? Bad bushing?

I noticed it the other day when I had my window down b/c it was a nice day...

It is a thumpy like noise, not major but I do hear it when going over large bumps...anyone know what the problem is and costs associated with this??:alchi:

front struts..maybe??

I dont think it is the struts because it makes no noise at all when turning which struts make somewhat of a popping sound if going out and also I am only at 57k miles...struts hardly ever go out untill at leat 100k.... But I havent a clue what this is...

anyone else have anything on this????

Sounds kind of early for this as well but a wheel bearing perhaps ?

I agree...and it may not be the struts...but the reason I mention it is that I am at 58K now, and very early on, I would also hear a noise coming from my left fron fender area when I would go over certain bumps coming down my street. I went to the dealer and they changed out my front struts ..It may be a different noise altogether but when they changed it, I had low about 20-30K on the car....

My front struts went completely to hell at about 32K miles. The front end started bouncing like a kangaroo.

well i guess thats the problem then....how much should I expect to pay????

Hi... Had mine in the shop two weeks ago with a noise in the front suspension when I went over things like a speed bump. They ended up replacing the lower control arm and a stabilizer link. This is an 04 with only 20K on it.

well, the mechanic said he also heard the very samll noise but said he checked everything, struts, arms etc... no leaks or wear so he said it is nothing to worry about... it still annoys me so I might get a second opinion...

I test drove a few used '04 CTS (20 to 35K miles) and they all had a clunk/thump noise from up near the left front wheel. In fact, the one I ended up buying does it too. Like you said, it seems to do it on rough stretchs of road at low speeds and its not real loud, just annoying. I think it might be brake related as I cant seem to hear it when I apply a gentle amount of brake. Gonna keep an eye on things anyway...
