Have the FE2 suspension on my CTS. Can I change to the FE1 to get a softer, smoother ride? I will do both the rear and front at the same time. Has anyone else ever done this switch? Is the FE1 a softer ride for bumps in the road?
Can I switch to a different suspension?

FE1 is the soft ride suspension
FE2 is stiffer than FE1. I believe it was used on CTS's that had the performance and handling package but didn't have the sport package.
FE3 is the sporty suspension.
FE4 is what was used on the CTSV
Theres also the auto leveling shocks for the rear but they aren't called FE5, at least I dont think. I'm almost positive there wasn't an FE5 package but I could be wrong in which case some one on here will correct me.
You can change to FE1 with no problem. Some people will suggest getting the correct springs due to the different spring rates between FE1-FE4. Others will say it's okay. It's really up to you.
My 2007 CTS SPORT came with FE5 listed as "Performance-Tuned Suspension". It rides very hard. So i installed FE1 "soft ride" struts and rear springs. I wont know till spring as i dont drive it in the snow and salt up north. What i found thru research is GM offers 4 different front struts, but all share the same front spring. On the rear they offer soft or performance springs. 3 different rear shocks are offered, but are noted for 17 or 18 inch wheels. So i left the shocks as is. The V car is completely different. If you go to any of the GM parts sites you will find this info.
