Can dealer install Stabilitrak on a car without it?

I am considering getting a CTS soon. I will most likely be getting a Certified Pre-Owned 05 or 06 model. I believe most of the units I'm considering at the local dealers do not have the sport package and therefore would not have the Stabilitrak system installed. That is a feature I would definitely like to have, but is not necessarily a deal-breaker.

I am wondering if it is possible to have the dealer retrofit this system? If so, how much should I expect them to charge for it? Also any advice for a new buyer is appreciated, thanks! :)

Uhhh, my car doesn't have the sport package but DOES have stabilitrak. You probably need to consider the options on each car.
How do I know if mine has it? 05 CTS, 3.6

Sorry, VERY new to this car.

Are you from stl?

JL4 is the option code for StabiliTrack
PDL is the option code for the Luxury Package
PDX is the option code for Sport Package
Look on the option code label in the trunk, under mat and affixed to spare tire cover.

Lots of letters but of those, PDL is the only one on mine.
Thanks for the feedback. Some of the cars have little or no information on what they actually have, one of them at the local dealer doesn't say anything beyond the year, mileage, and VIN #. I guess I'll just have to call up the dealer(s) and see what each of the cars has.

Look at the tag on the bottom side of the spare tire cover in the trunk. Decode the list here: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/rpo/index.php Knowledge is power!
Or you just WOT from 0, especially when it's wet. You will get a notice on your screen when you have it...

Unfortunately I don't have the car yet, and I don't think the dealers would appreciate me WOT'ing the car around the lot on a rainy day just to find out if it has stabilitrak!

I think my best bet will simply be to ask -- considering it seems from searching that most people are interested in disabling the system, I suppose nobody has tried to have it installed after the fact...
By the way, Pyro...:welcome5: to the forum!! Just noticed that you're a newbie. :alchi:
Isn't that cool, Ryan?
We'll have to see to it that he come to the next STL meet :)

Don't believe a word a salesman says. There isn't one salesman in ten that can tell you if his rectum is punched, bored, or eaten out by maggots. Take your digital camera and take a picture of the options tag on the underside of the spare tire cover.

I will definitely confirm the installed features before I buy. However if they don't have any CPO cars with stabilitrak, then I would be interested to know if it's possible to retrofit. I could probably ask the service manager or someone else in the service department. In fact I may just give them a call on Monday.
As stated it has to have JL4.
Cannot be added, too much hardware and software involved.
It either has it or it doesn't.

Believe me it’s not worth get it, I have it on my CTS and every time it rains my car spins into circles when doing a U turn or even just turning left/right from a dead stop when the ground is slippery and of course I always get the SAFTY SYSTEM ENGAGED warning on my screen.. I thought there was a problem so I toke it to the dealer to check the safety system and found nothing. Now I ended using the SNOW button when it’s raining to make sure I don’t lose control of my car.

You must be referring to the traction control, which can be turned off. The stablity system has saved my ass several times when I almost lost control of my vehicle. It is worth every penny. Im sure many other memebers can attest to Stablitrak saving their ass at one point or another also.
Wheel speed sensors, yaw sensors, steering position sensors... hahaha.. NO you can not get this installed after the fact.
