Before I take it apart can anyone tell me if its hollow behind this pannel? And also how to get it off? I would need an inch or two of clearance to put a guage in it. I dont wanna pry it and put marks in it if it's screwed in through the back... The car has no sun roof btw. Thanks, Pat.

its not screwed through the back. Thats where the garage door opener would be if you had the option. That whole panel simply pops off. Mine has the sunroof and garage door in there too so mine didnt have any room, but yours might

Thanks arw, I just tried prying it off with no luck but I didnt want to force it. Do you know which direction I should pry it from? Which side has the hooks, and which side has the snaps?

There are four spring clips, one at each corner. Pull straight down. It takes a bit of tug to get it down but you won't hurt anything. Once off that panel comes off with torx head screws. There is plenty of room in that cavity for the amount of space you need.

Yes, the whole unit will pop out.
