I was wondering if it went to status 5000 and its landed
at the dealership?

Wanted to go see it today. LOL

Sorry for the confusion.

For everyone that is not aware of GM event status codes, here is a list:

STATUS EVENT CODES
1100-Order placed at dealer
1101-Order accepted by GM
2001-Order generated to dealer
2005-Order replaced with GM Prospec order
2050-Order changed
2500-Order sent to production, preferenced
3000-Order accepted by production control
3100-Order available to sequence (now the tpw becomes more stable)
3300-Order selected for production by assembly plant
3400-Order broadcasted for production
3800-Vehicle produced
4150-Vehicle invoiced to dealer
4200-Vehicle shipped
5000-Vehicle delivered to dealer
6000-Vehicle delivered to customer

So, OP is asking if the vehicle has been delivered to the dealer or not.

I called a dealer or two but but I tend to think they want to wait until they have more cars on the lot.

They keep telling me september they will have more.

The two dealers in the immediate area had the factory rep car in but didn't call. They were sorry but they just didn't call.

Simple fact is...

I just want to see the car in the sheetmetal before I order it.

The kids on summer school break and the Wife is interested in seeing this week if possible.

So I tracked two relatively further but still local cars and it looks like they are close to arriving.

That was the premise of my question.

Sorry if it put anybody out.

JB doesn't yet have a CTS on order. He just wants to see one up-close, at an area dealership, to assist in the decision making process. At present it's the '08 CTS vs. the Volvo S80. Stay tuned!

Yea, I realize that now, apparently my eyesight is going, ha.

Nothing wrong with a Volvo. I previously had a Volvo S60r. Very dynamic.
The new S80's are nice vehicles too, but Volvos are going to be more expensive to fix, and options are really expensive.

RAB, can you tell me how long between when you make a purchase and when the factory starts to build?

There are several variables that can impact this timing.
  • First, your dealer must have an allocation.
  • Second, some options, colors, etc can be on constraint - meaning only a limited number are available (could be none). For example, B20 is currently not available and the outlook is so bad that they have decided to build ordered cars without that option.
If everything is in alignment, it could take as little as 2-3 weeks from order entry to your production week. In my case, order was on or about 5/24, but they did not start building production 08s until July 16. Then my order was on hold with the B20 option issue until GM decided to build them without. My car was built on or before 8/4.

I believe B20 was the wood steering wheel. I believe there was some delays with that particular product.

GM decided to ship the cars out without the wood on the steering wheel for those that ordered it that way and I believe they got a 150 dollar credit or something like that..

Ditto to everything Zymurgy said above.

Re the order for my '08 CTS, here is the chronology and outlook, as it stands today:
- June 6th: Placed order for vehicle.
- June 28th: Vehicle preferenced (event code 2500).
- Week of July 23rd: Advice received that order was in delay mode due to a vague 'issue' with option B20 (wood accent trim for steering wheel & shift knob). Decided to wait & see for a while, hoping the problem with B20 would soon clear. Received zero additional info from GM in this matter.
- Aug. 13th: Decided to delete option B20 on my order after learning via this forum (thanks gm_eng) that the problem with option B20 was going to linger until at least the end of September.
- Aug. 20th: Learned today that my order has advanced and that the TPW (targeted production week) is August 27th (next week). :bouncy:
- With any luck, my car will be delivered to the dealership by Sept. 18th. That timing would be okay, as I'll be arriving home on Sept. 20th after a 3 1/2 week biz trip to N. Africa.
- Sept. 21st: Hope to be saying "Goodbye '02 Olds Aurora 4.0", and "Hello '08 CTS DI AWD".

By that time I should long be enjoying posted photos of '08 CTS vehicles delivered to forum members such as Zymurgy and gm-eng.

Cheers
Rab.
