i'm curious if anyone has done this before.
when i had a bmw, there is a computer software that we use to change bmw features like , how many times the turn signal flashes when you flick the lever, turning on and off welcome lights, adding tire psi feature and so on.
we would hook up a computer to bmw ecu and change the setting on a software.
Do any cadillac owners do this ?
There are some features on cadillac that bothers me that would be nice if i have control over it.

What i'm talking about is really off the book type of thing since it's adjusting set up MORE than what GM offers in the owner's manual.
BMW has it. benz doesnt have it. i won't be surprised if Cadillac doesn't have it.

Maybe „honk when locked“ is a Feature that is not official in the Settings?
My European 2013 ATS honk only at automatically locking.honk when I’m push the Lock Button is not possible.

A USA ATS 2013 from Sixt honk in both situations

There is a bunch of stuff you can set in the CUE system. One of the things I set was to unlock all doors when I press the button on the handle.

The number of settings available through the BMW DIS softare is incredible. Things like Steering Angle Sensor calibration, auto headlight leveling modification, etc. are way beyond what's available in the CUE menus. However I suspect that the GM dealerships computers are capable of the same. I think the difference is that the DIS software, as well as the Mercedes XENTRY software are out there in the wild, where they can be downloaded and hacked to run on most Intel-based laptops. I don't know of a similar situation with GM, although I could be wrong. This is my first GM car in 25 years. Loving it, by the way.

He is talking about settings that are beyond what you are actually given control over, as in finetuning how electronics behave down to tiny details like how bright you would like your tail lights to be or how fast you want the turn signal to blink. A co-worker has a thing he plugs into the OBD port and communicates via an app on his phone, he can adjust insane detailed things in his VW GTI. I wish there was something like this for Cadillac but I haven't heard of anything close.

My previous Audi had some of this, you could actually change the level of power steering, changing the amount of effort required to turn the wheel. When I got a performance tune I asked the person installing the tune to make it take a little more effort to turn the wheel, I thought the change improved the steering a little.

As far as why Audi went to the effort to make different items changeable I really don't understand. Changing the brightness of tail lights, steering effort, number of blinks for turn lights, not sure why they did it. Virtually no one new it could be changed, dealers definitely didn't and if Audi was changing cars for a specific market they wouldn't being doing it through special menus for each car.

Mercedes Xentry and Star Diagnostics both connect via OBD.

wasn't aware of that in BMW. could any BMW owner do it with a cheap aftermarket tool or how did it work? I've got engine tuning software, but no hacks for the BCM are in it. It's strictly for going fast :D

Program can be found free or very inexpensive on eBay. It's called BMW DIS. Illustration show the cover and one of the internal screens. At the dealer level, the diagnostic run on a proprietary computer that cost north of 60,000 USD. Someone did a great job porting these to PC level. I imagine the GM system is just as expensive. I'm surprised that nobody has ported it yet.
