Bought a 2007 CTS and the color code is 41U, it was sold as a black car. I want to order new front and back bumpers prepainted, but am worried as the car does look black but in the sun it has a slight purple/plum metallic look. Almost a deep red or purple metallic flake in the paint, is this really 41U. The car doesn't look repainted, and all panels have this. Just don't want to order 41U painted bumpers and have them be pitch black when the rest of the car obviously isn't.

Does the paint have an orange peel look to it in the sun? or does it look flat?

Neither really, it's got a sparkle to it somewhat, metallic look. From a distance looks black, if you get at an angle in the sun you can see the plumish color metallic flake

Just went outside and took a pic, with no direct sunshine on the car, it looks pitch black, black as black can be, but as you see in the pic with the flash reflection on it, it shows some purplish colors. Paint on the driver side looks original, no signs of repainted. Passenger side has had body work, but paint matches (just didn't do as good of job, obvious its been painted). This pic is from the side that looks original.

Doesn't look like a stock paintjob. Well, at least not a 41U black paint job
