Hey guys. I'm a new member, but NOT a new visitor. My old account, try2playJAY is gone, so here I am again! Here's my dilemna. I'm getting some replacement bumper fillers for my 85 Eldorado and they must be painted. I have my factory paint codes and such, but I can't seem to find any info, let alone somewhere to buy the paint to paint the filler panels! Here's what my GM sticker says:

"DIS.LACQUER WA- L8538 U8538 A8001 A8002"

I understand most of it, but what's the "DIS.LACQUER" mean? Is it a lacquer type paint? I know the "L" and "U" are Upper and Lower body, I'm guessing the "A" is "accents"? The bumper fillers are the same color as the body, so...thats what I know. Any info or helpful advice? Thanks a bunch fellas!

I've had good luck here. Paint matches for my Eldo and my daughter's Mitsu was dead on. A bit pricey though.

Here's a link to a photo of the Parts ID Sticker located inside the trunk. That is the only place that lists the car's paint code and such! Hope that helps!

I've also learned that the "DIS" stands for dispersion lacquer. I have no idea what that means!

Yes you're correct by assuming that it's a Lacquer paint...CC would be clear coat, there are a few other indicators as well. You're also correct that the A is the accent colour.

Mine happens to be BRIGHT red, gunmetal accent (pinstripe), black coach roof, and alll black interior. It's not at all a reflection of my normal preference or personality...but was waay too unique and sharp looking to let go of.
