I have a 2005 SRX AWD (vin#50101890) w/#25755438 driveshaft. In 2013 my tranny went, and I replaced it with a tranny from a 2009 SRX AWD (vin#90104945). Now in 2015 I have the caddy clunk and realized my center support bearing is completely gone. My first question is, can I replace the drive shaft with a #15210791 shaft (for a 2009 SRX). My second question is, why does the 2005 AWD SRX have 2 different drive shafts (#25755438, #25771588). And last, has anyone on this earth (including GM), came up with a quick fix for the center support bearing.

Posted while laying under my car in utter disgust! (After throwing tools, lol)

Appreciated, the more exposure the quicker I get an answer. Hopefully, I will get an answer (for all three questions)from someone that has knowledge of the engineering itself.

I replaced the original center support with one from the CTS of that model range, had a shop machine press it on. Same diameter, different ride height. Has lasted fine. Just replaced the rubber gaskets/grommit on the engine side of the drive shaft after using a used replace one at the last repair. I had the drive shafts from 2004-2007 and 08-09 next to one another. Looks exactly identical.
