I always wanted to ask: does anypne know why Cadillacs (in my case my cat 98) has these two 'bumper' horns in front (each side of the front plate housing)?

Aside from being not too pretty, I was curious to know if they actually served a purpose... the Opel Omega didn't have these... but almost all the Caddies seem to... anyone?

They make it more pleasurable for the car in front of you when you ram it in the ass.

Somewhat valid reasons... but why only in North America... don't euro cars like it up the rear also? LOL (sorry being silly see my wiper motor post)

Well, if notice, north american drivers have a bad habit of bumping off the front bumper of the car behind when doing a parallel parking. I live in New York, and I have always been a victim of this very bad habit of drivers here. And I'm thankful that i have those bumper horns you are talking about, they at least serve some kind of protection.

I know useful but not real pretty... they really break the flow of the front end... (I'm a design type of guy).

They had bothered me when I had my Catera. I just love the front end of Omega. I am not so crazy about the crome grille either.

My 2001 does not have them. I believe that the 2000 also does not have them.

AS far as i can assertain its an American thing, i think its soem sort of vein attempt to make the car look more American. Along with the early model's grille, it does the job to some degree....

The 97-99 maybe didnt meet 5mph crash testing that well... and the 00-01's did? (reason for them)
