Bugs and quibbles thread

Going to start a bug/issues thread to track issues that anyone may be seeing. I don't think there's a way to report things other than through the dealer at the moment, but if anyone knows please chime in.
  • Nearby charging doesn't have accurate arrival state of charge. Always seems to indicate 0% or negative % on arrival, despite it definitely not being true. In this picture I have 50% charge remaining. The built in navigation does seem to report accurate % on arrival so I'm not sure what's going on.

  • Charging on L2 always shows 0% as status. The light up top is green (flashing) so it is charging.

  • Left side display is also inaccurate when on L2 charging. Always shows 0 hrs 00 min remaining.

  • Occasionally the media display in the instrument will get stuck and not update. A power on/off cycle restores regular function.

Minor quibble:
  • There's a small knock/jerk/something when getting back on the accelerator after coming to a complete stop using the regen paddle. It's not completely smooth. Using the paddle to stop seems to engage auto hold, so I'm wondering if it's expected or it's something to keep an eye on.
  • The shortcut bar in the infotainment is limited and you can only add things from the main infotainment screen, so you can't add a sub-menu item as a shortcut. Within a menu, you can further add shortcuts. This means something like homelink is at least 2 presses away - 1 to bring up controls menu, 1 to hit the homelink shortcut within that menu.
  • When in reverse, you are stuck with the reverse camera views on the infotainment. You can't switch out to look at other cameras or bring up homelink to close gates/garage. You have to put it in park or drive before you can do anything else. Switching to drive after reverse will bring up the front camera view and in this case you are free to switch out. I imagine this gets better once the surround vision update is out.

The reverse camera being on when in reverse is a Federal legal requirement. That's not going to change.

That's a good point. I was just hoping to be able to also see other angles or to not take up the entire screen so something like homelink could also be displayed.

If you have one-pedal 'on' or 'high' or use the paddle to stop the car completely, the friction brakes are engaged. Kinda like hold mode like you say. As a test, perhaps try not doing that (no paddle and one-pedal off), and use the regular brake to stop normally like a gas car. If the sensation goes away, it is likely due to the car releasing the friction brakes when you tap the accelerator.

The owner's manual kinda talks about something similar here...

I think I'm also missing something in the Trip Information panel. The other tabs show Current Trip, Trip 1, and Trip 2. I think this empty one used to show the overall average, but I'm not sure if I'm imagining it. Power on/off cycle doesn't restore it.

edit: According to dealer it is intentional, like the Escalade.

Isn't that frame supposed to be empty?
I'm not sure so wanted to check with others. I could've sworn I used to be able to see something like a lifetime average. A purposeful empty frame seems odd to me, but maybe you're right.

While I'm not 100% on this at the moment, I think it's to accommodate a clean look.

As someone who had their 2023 order accepted last week (after a call from the dealer and change from blue to black) - I will definitely be watching this thread to not only be prepared for some things, but also to see if there are resolutions available.

Thank you for starting it.

Looks like you are correct. My dealer responded that's intentional and is the same way on the Escalade.

This is a screen shot from a Hyundai - one of my favorite backup camera visualizations I have driven. It shows the legally-required backup view alongside the alternate views. And it has selections that let you change these around. (The newer Hyundais have a 3rd-person view which is some dark magic.)

How does this compare to the Lyriq views? And yeah, the HomeLink toolbar is a huge miss. Some UI designer majorly dropped the ball on that one.

Thanks for the thread. Mine is currently in a state where the Google maps don't work, and it won't do an OTA. It's at the dealer, and they're bringing in a GM engineer to figure it out. I was one of the early deliveries, so hopefully this was just an early software issue. I saw someone else on Reddit who has the exact same problem.

Something may have changed and/or I'm an idiot, I now have the ability to select other camera views in reverse. Note that only in drive do you get the "Exit" option to exit out of the camera views.

I agree that the Hyundai implementation of their 360 view is really quite good. I'm expecting something similar when the surround vision update comes.

I had seen that post recently and it sounds really inconvenient, hopefully they can sort it out fast. Makes me a little hesitant to blindly accept updates until I've seen what it does to others. Problem is there's like no others at the moment.

Thanks for the pictures. Those look great, and it looks like there is plenty of room for a combined rear & 3D view, when 3D is ready. And the doofus who screwed up the HomeLink access is probably aready on it. o_O
When the cameras are enabled for the Lyriq I expect it to look similar to how the Escalade does it:

I actually never got an update. My maps just stopped working one day. Then I think about a week later I was offered my first update, but that's the one that wouldn't succeed.

I think I remember someone having a similar issue either here or on the Facebook group... In order to fix Google Maps they had to do Factory Settings Restore from in the vehicle settings menu and redo everything.
Thanks for creating this thread btw. A few issues to add to this thread.
  1. Camera: when reversing this morning, there were no guidelines. Then when shifting to drive, the guidelines appeared on the front camera. Seems to have gotten into a weird state. This corrected after placing the vehicle in park then drive.
  2. Music not playing. The music was not playing from Apple play nor the radio. I could hear the simulated acceleration noise. Restarting by: turning the car off opening the door, and waiting 1 minute resolved the issue.
  3. Garage remote adding: I added the remote successfully yesterday, when I turned the car on today it was not there. I tried adding again and it would recognize the signal so I couldn’t add it.
