Give us some details on your car. Year? engine? milage?Hi guys, i was told i busted a bearing in the front driver side a while back, time to replace it. I saw used parts for sale online. My question is, whats the difference between, HUB bearings and WHEELS bearings? Or is there NO difference? Just another way to discribe the same part? Please help I have a guy that quotes a "hub" bearing 89.99 BUT a wheel bearing is 300.00?? Please help me out!?? Thanks!
Drozz
Hub/bearing is the hub and the bearings. All you're likely to need is the inner or outer bearing. Tear it down to find out.
go back to cadillac and ask him.Like I said the mechanic at cadillac stated "Bearing" needed to be replaced. What bearing is he refering to was my question? I never knew that there was 2 things in regards to the bearings..
A hub is a hub. It carries the brake rotor and the wheel. It has two bearings inside it that the hub turns on; an inside and an outside bearing. Changing a bearing is a simple fix. The hub/bearing carries the ABS wheel rotation sensor, also. GM lists the part for $349, but it's at GM Parts Direct for $149.00, p/n 12413071.
I dont think ya understood. I dont know what is busted. The hub or the bearings inside. I think its the bearings. None the less, I just dropped it off at the dealer i bought it at an hour ago. So either way it will be done CORRECT. Enough of this guessing game for me. Done worrying lol :alchi:Why would you want to buy the hub/bearing when you can buy just the bearings that fit inside it for 15% of the cost? Parts are sold separately and are also sold as assemblies. Why buy an assembly that you don't need when you can buy a few separate parts for much less? It's the difference between a mechanic and a parts changer.
