Brake squeal

4,000 miles on my SRX and the brakes are squealing. I took the car to the dealer and they sanded, and treated. Noise has stopped however the technician said this was common. Anyone have this problem? What is the solution? Different pads? Any TSBs out pertaining to the problem? Will GM fix?

A lot of questions I know, any answers out there??

A quick fix that sometimes works is to drive with a foot on each pedal so that the brakes are applied enough to get warm. Also get in a big parking lot and do the same in reverse. The rotors sometimes get rusty in the winter and this procedure will clean them up.
Yes. I'm usually not a hard braker, and they will glaze occasionally. I've started to delay braking a tad longer, and then brake harder. This has solved the problem.
My brakes started squealing around 6k and now around 13k. 6k the dealer turned the rotors to try to get a gouge out, but the sound was still there. Then they replaced the pads, and problem fixed till 13k. Usually hear the squeal around 40 MPH with the windows down.
I had a brake squeal issue. I took it to the dealer and after a ride with the tech, he acknowledged the sound. He cleaned them and suggested we use brake cleaner often on them. After talking to the Cadillac Tech, he found out that the Luxury Performance Package actually came with a better braking system than the other packages. The brakes squeal every so often, but she is a big girl and over 2 tons is difficult to slow down! There aren't any grinding issues or anything like that.

I had this problem with my '05 STS drivers side front wheel. The dealer did replace the rotor and it fixed the problem.
Have an 04 with 12,000 miles and the brake squeal has become overpowering. I have scheduled service this Friday. I don't believe it is due to winter weather because we really have had only a couple of cold days. They will squeal at very slow speed, like at a drive through.
Our '04 at about 20,000 miles did not have any brake squeal. Wonder if those with brake squeal drive metro area expressways which generally means a lots of light braking at 65+ mph.
