I have a 94 sls. When the head lights are on the brake lights remain on at all times and the turn signals do not function. This only occurs with the head lights on. During the day everything functions. Does anyone have any ideas?

This is a puzzlement. Have you had work of ANY sort done on the car recently?

Looking over the wiring diagram for my car, I can find only one place where headlamp and brake/turn signal power cross paths.

Brake and rear turn signal power both come from the turn signal switch. Additionally, the headlamp dimmer switch, which is part of the turn signal switch, has 12 volts applied to it only when the headlamps are on.

I'm not familiar with the physical construction of the turn signal switch, but I'm left to wonder if there might be some sort of short circuit in the turn signal switch (or its harness) which is allowing dimmer switch power to somehow find its way to the brake/turn lamps. Of course, this would occur only with the headlamps on which would apply 12 volts to the dimmer switch.

Yeah, it sounds crazy to me too . . . .

Regards,
Warren
