98-04 sevilles with bose will all have the same front 8" door speaker, but look on ebay for a set from the 02+ I think that's when they upgraded the quality of the speakers, I've had a 99 with bose and now an 03 the 03 sounds way more improved than the 99

 

Thanks cadi, I actually think they improved them in '01, or at least that is what I have heard from ryannel. Either way, I will look for at least an '01+.

 

I have a pair of front door speakers from my 01 STS w/ Bose, been collecting dust for almost 5 years. They DO NOT have the wiring harnesses however, just the speakers themselves.......hint hint

 

If he doesn't want them I do. Assuming you are willing to part with them.

 

What did you do with the wire harnesses???

I am really pressed for time..I don't want to put my door panel back on until I have an operating speaker in there. I swear I break a retainer clip every time I remove that stupid thing.

 

Jesus calm down hulk, slowly pull the thing off lol but curt will probably gladly hand those speakers over to you, he's not a big fan of bose, hell he's probably ripped the audio out of the cts already lol

 

Actually the Bose is still in the CTS believe it or not. I don't think I'm going to replace it all as the DIC is built into the radio and in order to install an aftermarket HU and keep the DIC you have to do a lot of custom modifications. You can just pull it all out and replace with aftermarket but than you lose your DIC, and screw that! I do plan on adding a subwoofer though to give her some low end that the Bose has no chance of producing. I think this Bose stereo may actually sound better than what was in my Seville, still not great, but tolerable.

 

Don't stop there - I've dealt with AMPS that were the culprit when pops were encountered, and the speaker was good (except where the foam edges were beginning to rot). See if you can get a known working combo. It'll save you from having to pull the door panel off twice (been there, done that).

 

I think the only thing that is inside the door panel on my '01 is the speaker...I think all the AMPS are in the trunk...

Also are both front door speakers the same? So I can find a passenger side front that will work on the driver side?

 

They should be the same size, and therefore interchangeable. That's the case with earlier Sevilles. There's a sticky in the Cadillac audio forum here that identifies what you have.

Both front speakers are the same impedance (~1 ohm), so go for it.

 

I am getting an AMP code, but it's U1128 HISTORY - Loss of Communications with IRC, so I doubt that is causing the problem with the speaker.

 

No that code isn't it and the speakers can be swapped no problem

 

Okay, it is definitely the speaker causing the noise because I can replicate it by tapping the back of the speaker. Bad news, no salvage yards in my area have a speaker that I need.

 

If I come across an SLS with Bose, would it have the same front door speakers?

 

As long as it has Bose, yes. No difference between STS/SLS.

 

Had the same problem on my 92 seville with the bose system it turned out to be the amp. I took out the speaker (three screws) and tested it on my house stereo and the speaker worked fine. I would try hooking it up to a stereo system and check it instead of tapping on the back of the speaker.

 

Well my thinking is if it were the AMP, more than 1 speaker would be affected. In this case, all the other speakers sound great. Even this one sounds good, there is just something clicking within the speaker in rhythm with every low note, definitely not a symptom of a bad AMP (I hope).

 

Now I am sure the speaker is the problem. I just inspected it under better lighting, and I can actually see that the paper is ruptured inside the speaker.
