Bluetooth audio adapter w/controls?

My CTS does not appear to support bluetooth audio. Bluetooth works fine for hands free calling, but doesn't appear as a device I can send music to on my iPhones. I've been using the USB port which has worked great thus far, but my new iPhone 13 won't interface with it. Radio says it's an unrecognized device.

I have a generic bluetooth audio receiver plugged into the CTS's aux port for now and that works, but of course I've lost use of the CTS controls and track name display on the radio. Does anyone know if there's a bluetooth audio adapter available that will interface with the CTS to enable that functionality? Or maybe a software upgrade for the radio I can get so the iPhone 13 can use USB?

Thank you!

Normally Bluetooth in these automobiles does not support audio. iPhones may be different as I am an Android guy. You mentioned ,"...I've been using the USB port which has worked great thus far..." which indicated to me that you are able to have audio through the bluetooth. Part of your problem may be the brand new model 13.

I can get audio through the USB port, but not through bluetooth. Bluetooth support on the car is only for phone calls, unfortunately. It doesn't support bluetooth audio (doesn't show up as a speaker you can stream music to).

Are some good BT adapters on Amazon that support A2DP and not just TCS. Good ones can use wheel phone button plus stream music/GPS as an AUX input. Even better ones also have a voltmeter and an on/off switch.

Try this or this since cig lighter is on only with ignition.

ps since CTS has an AUX input, no need for a RF/FM device.

The Topping D50S DAC accepts both bluetooth and USB inputs while producing excellent quality audio, unlike some of the cheap solutions. It isn't small or cheap, requires modest installation, and leaves the audio interface and music library entirely up to your phone. Which, given the mid-2000s technology in the stereo, is probably a good thing. It even supports the high-end LDAC bluetooth audio codec, which sounds great. And USB sounds even better as it is lossless.

I use Android in my car, don't know how much of this your iPhone can use. Obviously it can bluetooth, but I have no idea about the LDAC BT format or driving a USB DAC.

I have had good results with this:
UGREEN BT~Aux https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081GGB53R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_G8V235409FBTM1RC8AWH

you don’t get display of media or track control via the steering wheel, but it connects as soon as I turn on the car, the phone function connects separately to the car itself, and I at least get volume controls with the steering wheel and don’t have to tether my phone to the car with a cable.
It all remains hidden away in my center console so I don’t have dongles and cables all over my car and I can stash or take out a separate charging cable as needed to avoid additional clutter.
Not optimal, but also not the worst situation I’ve been in as far as my phone media meets a car audio system goes.

I'm not the radio guru, but I have been here for many moons. I don't remember much about changing stations from anyone. Have you worked with Crutchfield? Have you searched here?
