Blend door actuator

Been reading through old threads on AC issues. Just want to make sure I am going in the right direction. When the AC is on, it blows cold air on the drivers side, and in the rear on both sides, but the passenger side front blows warmer air. Am I correct that I need to replace the blend door actuator?

Did you end up fixing the problem yourself or going somewhere? I Have the same issue on my 05 esv, the front passenger side is blowing out nothing but hot. I ended up buying the part but changed the driver side thinking it's actually the passenger side (since the part is still located on the passenger side :-/ oh well, I gained the experience). I know the passenger blend door actuator is under the dash cover now... but having trouble locating how to remove the dash to get to the part. I saw some write ups for other GM SUVs and most likely it is the same.

The passenger and recycle air actuators are at the top of the dash
There is a few screws and the grab handle has to be removed before the top can be removed
Word of warning the sun load sensor is on the top of the dash so don't damage it

Hi yeah that is some of the issues that cause, the other is that the cold air will blow through your defroster. Now I found out that there are three blend modulators two at the top of your dash and one at the bottom. If you are having this problem like I did then number two blend modulator is the one that is giving you the problem. You can go to and auto store or Cadillac dealer and pick up the right one. Caution you have to take out your entire dash out to reach it if you are doing yourself. Good luck.

All done... And I only ended up with one spare 7mm screw... not bad lol. It's driving me nuts wondering where it goes, but I'm not worried
I also ended up with a spare screw somehow
I think it goes on the hush panel over the tranny hump but I ain't messing with it as its a major PITA to put back in place

I wouldn't worry about it if everything is back in place just keep the screw for future service to put back in place

wasyed thanks for posting the sparkys link. My wife just today mentioned that the passenger side vents are blowing warm while the drivers and rear are ice cold.

I have the manual but real time pics are much better IMO. I will be replacing both back there as I do not want to pull the dash apart twice.

You're welcome. I wish I replaced both just so i would never have to go through that again. But, now that I think of it, it probably won't be as bad next time around since most of the time wasted was figuring out how do get to some parts and where the pictures are referring to. I did find the two following tools very helpful:
attaches to power drills for those hard to reach places, right angle attachment
flexible bit extension, came in hand in several places (some flex more than others so it's better to get a more flexible one)
